GOD IS A WOMAN
Modeled by: Lena Evsyutina
Behind the Scenes: Loubaba Boury
God is a Woman is my most recent project about Women Empowerment. I created a concept that represents my definition of women empowerment. This concept was probably one of the hardest and the most effort I’ve ever put into a shoot to make it possible. I couldn’t have done it without my my team Lena Evsyutina (model) and Loubaba Boury (assistant). I cannot thank them enough for helping me bring my vision to life.
I have worked with so many strong and independent women ever since I started photography. Many who own their own business while going to school, working multiple jobs or are full time stay at home mothers. Those women have truly inspired me and I wanted to create a concept that represents what women empowerment means to me. To me it is about what we are capable of, we recognize our own self worth, can make our own decisions and stand up for ourselves. No matter what challenges we face, I believe we still hold a bright future for us. No matter the passion you have, the goals you want to achieve or change you want to make. You should hold onto it, believe in it, announce it to the world because you are capable of anything and you have the power to act on it
Behind the Scenes
I like to work closely with my models. I give them the freedom to pose how they like but I also can give them direction. One of my biggest importance in a shoot is making my models feel comfortable and pose them in a way that will compliment their body type. I have a history of working with models and even modeling for other photographers so I know what poses will work best for my models and what will support my vision. Communication is so important to me as well, I continually let my models know how they are doing. A photographer should always motivate their model with words of affirmation.
Props are necessary for a fully styled shoot. I like to create multiple looks and set ups to keep the session interesting. These set ups are planned out at the beginning of my creative process. I color coordinate any styled shoot I do to make the end product cohesive. What I believe to be important when styling a shoot is selecting an outfit and props that compliment my model. Keeping your models skin tone in mind when styling the shoot is a plus. Different skin tones will look best with certain colors and hues. My model from this shoot has cool tone skin so I picked out a dress that has the same tone to make my model really shine. This project challenged me in many way that I somewhat expected but also did not expect. I believe I am now a stronger photographer from it and have more confidence in pursuing my visions.
My passion is to create. I dedicate a lot of time and research into my projects so I can produce high quality photos. I am more than a photographer, I am a planner, coordinator, designer and director. I believe what sets me apart from other photographers is that I have the ability to think creatively and pay attention to every detail while playing many roles. I fully enjoy the whole process of picking out the right outfit, props, studio, and model. I begin by brainstorming concepts that inspire me at the moment. I have many ideas running through my head and if I think it is possible, then I create a vision board. The vision board allows me to visually see what the shoot will all entail. Plus, it is something that I can send to my client and team so they can understand my vision.
